Orissa Assembly condoles Nandini's death;adjourned for the day
Bhubaneswar, Aug 5 (UNI) Orissa Assembly today paid rich tributes to former state chief minister Nandini Satapathy who passed away last night after prolonged illness.
The House adopted obituary reference, moved by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, recalling the great contribution of the iron lady, the only women Chief Minister of Orissa.
Leader of the Opposition J B Pattnaik, BJP Legislature Party leader Biswa Bhusan Harichandan, CPI leader Narayan Reddy, CPM leader laxman Munda, Orissa Gana Parishad MLA Arun Dey besides several other members joined the state in paying tributes to the departed soul.
The House observed two-minute silence as a mark of respect to the leader after which Speaker Maheswar Mohanty adjourned the House for the day.
The Orissa government had already declared three-day state mourning as a tribute to the departed soul and announced closure of all government offices and educational institutions today.
