Nehru made Netaji 'a living dead': Fernandes

Varanasi, Aug 5 (UNI) National Democratic Alliance (NDA) convenor George Fernandes, an ardent critic of the Congress, today alleged former Prime Minister Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru had made Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose ''a living dead.'' ''By declaring that Netaji died in an air crash, despite the latter being still alive, Pt Nehru made the founder of Indian National Army (INA) a living dead,'' Mr Fernandes maintained, while talking to media here.

The former defence minister, earlier, addressing a function at the Mahatama Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith (MGKV) University, alleged that corruption in the country owed its genesis to the first government of independent India.

''Even Mahatama Gandhi used to cry during his evening prayers, when informed of the corruption in the first government of independent India,'' Mr Fernandes observed.
