Modi govt has failed to heal wounds of riot victims: Karat

Ahmedabad, Aug 5 (UNI) Communist Party of India (Marxist) General Secretary Prakash Karat today categorically alleged that Narendra Modi's BJP Government in Gujarat had failed to heal the wounds of victims, particularly of the minority community, in the post-Godhra communal riots of March 2002.

Recalling his visit to the city three years ago, Mr Karat said, ''I do not see any changes in living conditions of the people of the minority community. They are still being watched with suspicion.'' He further stated that it was saddening that the victims of riots were not given compensations and proper rehabilitations were also not made.

The CPI (M) leader also said he will submit a report to the Centre on his findings about the conditions of the riot victims in Gujarat.
