It is infiltration season from PoK, but we are alert, Lt Gen Dhillon
Srinagar, Aug 5 (UNI) 'Chinar' Corps' GOC Lt Gen SS Dhillon today said the infiltration season had begun and militants are sneaking into this side from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK).
Talking to reporters on the sideline of passing out parade of 248 new recruits of Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAKLI) here today, Lt Gen Dhillon said there was decline in the infiltration from across the border during winter months when the routes remained snow-bound.
''With the melting of the snow, militants, waiting across the border, try to sneak into this side, he said.
The GOC said the infiltration was still going on and will continue till the routes are again closed due to snowfall.
However, Lt Gen Dhilon asserted that security forces are ready to foil all such attempts. In fact a number of infiltration attempts were foiled by the alert troops in which several militants were killed on the line itself.
Noting that the overall situation in the Kashmir valley was improving, he, however, said '' some ugly incidents'' do take place due to the continuing infiltration.
