Israeli commando units land in Tyre: Security source
Tyre, Lebanon, Aug 5: Two Israeli commando units landed by helicopter near the southern Lebanese city of Tyre today, security sources said.
The drop occurred at the northern entrance of the city in a citrus grove where the forces clashed with Hizbollah guerrillas, the sources said.
The targets of the raids were not immediately clear. The security sources said the commando units left after three hours.
A Lebanese army troop carrier was hit by Israeli helicopter fire.
Lebanese army units fired anti-aircraft guns at the Israeli aircraft, the sources added.
A Hizbollah source said the guerrillas inflicted casualties on the attacking force, but gave no details. There was no immediate comment from the Israeli army.
Earlier today, Israeli jets also hit a refugee camp in the coastal area south of Tyre and wounded one civilian, security sources said. Another air raid shook the northern entrance to Tyre as Israeli helicopters hovered overhead.
