Increasing population cause of concern: Chief Minister
Patna, Aug 5 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said that the increasing population was a matter of concern but it should be considered as the strength of the state.
Addressing a seminar organised jointly by the Population Foundation of India (PFI) and Bihar State Assembly secretariat on 'Health, Population and Social Development,' Mr Kumar said that the state should accept its population, especially the youth as strength.
He said the power of youth can play pivotal role in the state's development and the policies were being framed.
He said the rising population could not be controlled by making law and suggested to check it through self control. Mr Kumar said his government is concentrating on the basic facilities, including health and education, and assured to bring the state back on the developmental track.
Addressing the seminar, State Assembly Speaker Udainarayan Choudhry said the growing population had led to unemployment problems.
Advisor of the PFI Almas Ali referred to the parametres laid for the development and said the state was the most underdeveloped state of the country.
