Petrol pilfereage from ONGC pipe line in Bihar

Bhagalpur, Aug 5: In a major breakthrough, the local police seized 2000 litres of petrol taken out illegally from the Guwahati-Barauni pipeline of the ONGC at Bhawanipur village under Nawgachia police station area in Bhagalpur district today.

Police Superintendent Shyam Kumar said here that the team raided the area following a tip-off and seized the tanker laden with the pilfered petrol. He said the cleaner of the tanker, Raju, was arrested during the raid.

The estimated value of the seized petrol was about Rs ten lakhs, he said and added that following information about occasional pilferage of petrol from the same point of the pipeline the police was keeping a close watch in the area.

The arrested cleaner disclosed that the tanker was being taken to West Bengal. The cleaner was being interrogated.
