Haryana to honour two children, villagers for saving student
Chandigarh, Aug 5 (UNI) The Haryana Government has decided to honour two school children and two villagers for showing exemplary courage and selflessness in saving many children after their school bus fell into a canal on August 1 in Sonepat district.
Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said Haryana Governor A R Kidwai would honour the children Amarjit and Babita and Narinder of Ahulana village and Narinder of Attapalaya village of Sonepat district on the occasion of Independence Day celebrations to be held at Jhajhar.
Appreciating the bravery shown by both the children who risked their own lives to save their fellow students, the Chief Minister also announced a cash reward of Rs 31,000 each to the children.
Amarjit and Babita, who were also travelling in the same bus swam out and then helped the other children to get out of the bus and brought them to the banks.
Similarly, the two men Narinder of Ahulana village and Narinder of Attapalaya village who helped in rescuing the children as soon as they saw the bus plunging into the waters, would also be given a cash reward of Rs 21,000 each.
The tragedy occurred while the school bus carrying students of Satkumba Varishth Public School of Kheri Gujjar village fell into Western Jamuna Canal at Ahulana Bridge near Khubaru village.
