Four Punjab youths detained for teasing girls in Shimla

Shimla, Aug 4 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh Police today detained four Punjab youths at Dharampur area of Solan district, hours after a case was registered against them at a Shimla Police station for teasing girls and allegedly displaying a weapon.

The youths have been detained by the state police at Dharampur following a complaint against them by a few St Bede's College girls here, earlier in the day, who alleged that they teased them at Nav Bahar area of the town, Shimla SP A P Singh told UNI here.

He said the youths allegedly also displayed a weapon before escaping in the Honda City Car (PB 26 B 0027), which was later intercepted at Dharampur and four people detained.

Mr Singh said based on the account of the girls, the number of the car was flashed throughout the state and a car bearing the same number was intercepted at Dharampur.

A police team has been dispatched to Solan to bring all the four to Shimla and only the investigations would reveal the identities of the four people, he said.

The four people detained in the incident have been identified as Manrup Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Ajit Singh, and a Punjab Police constable Tarsem Singh.

All the four were being brought to Shimla where a case would be registered against them, the sources added.
