Four children die as Puri Ahmedabad run over them
Bhubaneswar, Aug 5 (UNI) Four children were killed by the puri-Ahmedabad Express while they were trying to cross over the track at an unmanned level crossing at Mangalajodi village near Kalupada station in Khurda district today.
Police said the children were on the track when a DMU approached on the line at Mangalajodi. They then moved to the other track without noticing the Puri-Ahmedabad Express coming on the track.
The driver of the Puri-Ahmedabad Express train applied the brakes but the train did not stop as it was at a high speed.
While three children between the age group of 10 to 12 years died on the spot, another 18-month-old child identified as Gouri Behera succumbed to the injuries at the Tangi Hospital.
Those died on the spot had been identified as Basanti Behera (12), Kamini Behera (10) and Sanjaya Behera (10).
