Former minister injured in road accident, wife killed

Madurai, Aug 5 (UNI) Former Union Minister and Congress Lok Sabha Member Dhanushkodi Adithan and three others were injured while his wife was killed in a road accident near the Thoothukudi airport this evening.

The MP, representing Tirunelveli, and four others were proceeding in a car when the mishap occurred, police in Thoothukudi said. The driver lost control when one of the tyres got burst and the vehicle capsized, police added.

Mr Adithan's wife Indira Devi (43), died soon after she was admitted at a private hospital.

According to police, Mr Adithan's condition is stable. He sustained fractures in his right arm as well as right leg.

The other injured, the MP's daughter, Cynthia, and a relative besides the car driver are also being treated at private hospitals in Thoothukudi, police added.
