Dullo's son released on bail, father cries foul

Shimla/Chandigarh, Aug 5 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh police today released the son of Punjab Congress chief S S Dullo and three others on bail in an eve teasing case.

Mr Dullo said his son was implicated in a false case and demanded a probe into the matter.

All the four youths, detained yesterday for eve teasing and firing near St. Bede's girl's college in Solan district, were released on bail.

The youths, including Mr Dullo's son Manroop Singh and nephew Gurpartap Singh, were arrested under sections 336, 506, 504, 509 and 34 of IPC and Sections 25, 54 and 59 Arms Act, which were bailable, the HP police said.

The four were detained at Dharampur area hours after a case was registered against them at a Shimla Police Station for teasing girls and allegedly firing in the air before escaping in the Honda City car (PB 26 B 0027), which was later intercepted at Dharampur.

The other two accused were Manroop's friend Ajit Singh and Punjab police constable Tarsem Singh.

Himachal Pradesh BJP President Suresh Bhardwaj and former chief minister P K Dhumal have condemned Mr Dullo's son's behaviour, saying the relatives of the Punjab Congress leaders coming to Himachal and creating law and order situation had become a regular feature.

A strict action should be taken against these people as per law to ensure such incidents were not repeated, they said.

Observing that eve teasing and firing in the air were serious offences, they asked how were the accused let off on bail for the crimes.

Mr Dullo, talking to newsmen in Hoshiarpur, stated that his son and nephew were innocent and implicated falsely in the case. He demanded ''an impartial probe'' into the matter.

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Parkash Singh Badal today demanded the resignation of the PPCC chief on moral grounds following the incident.
