Dayaram Gadaria injured in police encounter
Gwalior, Aug 5 (UNI) Dreaded dacoit chieftain Dayaram Gadaria, who is synonymous with terror in the Gwalior-Chambal region and carries a reward of Rs five lakh on his head, has reportedly been shot at and injured in an encounter with Madhya Pradesh Police within a dense forest near Shivpuri district's Balarpur, unconfirmed reports said.
However, sources said the bandit, who headed the notorious Dayaram-Rambabu Gadaria gang carrying a reward of Rs 15 lakh, was shot dead.
A SLR rifle belonging to the dacoit was seized from the spot.
Other gang members managed to escape. Senior police officers rushed to the spot.
Meanwhile, in the state capital, a senior police official told UNI that the dacoit chieftain was seriously injured in the encounter and the possibility of his death could not be denied.
However, the dacoit's body could not be recovered.
The dacoit gang had recently abducted four people.
