Copper prices rise due to increase in industrial demand
Mumbai, Aug 5 (UNI) Copper prices rose today due to fresh increase in industrial demand, according to traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange (BME).
In the ferrous segment: copper heavy, copper utensils and brass utensils hiked by Rs. 500 each per quintal while brass cuttings red aluminium utensils increased by Rs. 200 and Rs. 300 per quintal respectively on reduced stock supply.
In non-ferrous category: copper wire bars and lead ingots went up by Rs. 200 and Rs. 50 per quintal respectively on better buying support.
Tin slab and nickel cathode rose by Re one and Rs. 30 per kg on improved demand.
Following were the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: Copper heavy - Rs 38,000, copper utensils - Rs 33,000, brass utensils - Rs 22,500, brass cuttings - Rs 25,700 and aluminium utensils - Rs 11,000.
Non-ferrous metals: Copper wire bars - Rs 41,800, aluminium ingots - Rs 13,000, zinc slab - Rs 18,900, lead ingots - Rs 6,350, tin slab - Rs 486 (per kg) and nickel cathode - Rs 1,355 (per kg).
