Conmen dupe retired employee of Rs 30,000

Chennai, Aug 5: A retired BSNL employee was relieved of Rs 30,000 by two conmen at Kodambakkam area in the city yesterday.

Police said Jayaraman (65) withdrew Rs 10,000 from his pension account at a post office and was on his way to a bank to deposit the money with another sum of Rs 20,000 he was carrying.

After he hired an autorickshaw, two conmen diverted his attention and helped him keep the cash properly in a bag.

On reaching the bank, he found the cash missing.Police registered a case.
