Complacency may cost your place, Chappell tells Team India
Bangalore, Aug 5 (UNI) The selection of the Indian cricket team will be done only based on performance, be it the established players or the fresh talent who can 'offer' something that will lead to the team's victory, Team India Coach Greg Chappell has said.
Sounding a virtual warning to the present Team India players, he told 'Crickinfo' website that complacency might cost them dear as it would give a chance to fringe players to 'sneak' into the team.
''Performance will be the automatic criterion for the players to select themselves in or select themselves out of the team based on their performance. We have to make it sure that we don't get complacent and leave the door open,'' Chappell said.
The Coach said ''We (the team management) have to be open-minded and use all the resources that we have got. Mongia's selection shows that no one is totally in or totally out. We have a set of about 25 players who could be in contention at most of the time and this is a healthy sign. All of them cannot play at once. So some one will be in and some one out of the team despite their form and talent at one given time.'' UNI RS GD GM1840
