New Delhi, Aug 5: The Campaign Against Child Labour(CACL) has welcomed the Central Government's decision to ban employment of children in the domestic sector and demanded strict enforcement of the law to make it effective.

CACL National Convenor Ranjan Mohanty demanded the Government to prepare a time bound action plan to completely eradicate child labour from the country.

Mr Mohanty said here that banning child labour at homes, hotel, restaurants, teashops, resorts and Dhabas by enlisting these as prohibitory sectors under Child Labour (Prohibiton &R)Act 1986 was appreciated.

It has has been a long pending demand of CACL, which is a network of over 6000 anti-child Labour groups, women groups, trade unions, academic institutions, media agencies, child rights and human rights organizations, research bodies, corporate houses, student volunteers and eminent citizens. A national opinion was also built against it.

However, a mere law will not help until and unless it is strictly implemented, accompanied with necessary rehabilitation package for the children rescued from different sectors.

He said that CACL is committed to eradication of child labour through building public opinion, investigation of abuse / exploitation, advocacy, lobbying and monitoring of national and international developments.
