Bush, Annan discuss UN resolution on Lebanon
Crawford (Texas), Aug 5: US President George W Bush today spoke by phone with UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan amid feverish attempts to reach a UN resolution on the fighting in southern Lebanon.
White House spokesman Tony Snow said the two spoke for 15 minutes. He had no immediate details, but earlier Snow said both the United States and France seemed confident that an agreement on a UN resolution will be sealed soon.
''If not today it is a matter of a very few days,'' he said.
Bush and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will discuss the situation when she arrives in Crawford, Texas, where Bush is on vacation at his ranch, on Saturday and she is expected to work the phones on the UN resolution until a deal is reached.
