Bodies of airhostess, her lover handed over to parents
Chennai, Aug 5 (UNI) Even as police were probing all angles to ascertain the exact nature of the death of airhostess Shilpa, her body and that of her lover's were today handed over to their parents after postmortem.
Police said the postmortem on the body of Shilpa (24) was performed yesterday and handed over to her parents last night.
It was taken to Bangalore for last rites.
The body of Shilpa's boyfriend Jayanth, who had allegedly committed suicide by hanging after allegedly killing her sweetheart, was handed-over to his father, who arrived from Haryana today.
The postmortem on Jayanth's body was done at the Government Royapettah hospital here after the arrival of his father K C Nath, a retired Army officer. He took the body to Haryana for performing the last rites, police said.
Police have registered a case under Sec 174 of IPC (suicide/ unnatural death) and would decide on altering it after getting concrete evidence.
Mr Nath told reporters at the hospital that he had agreed for their marriage and was planned it in April, 2007.
''There were some minor problems last year before I agreed for the marriage'', he said and described the incident as unfortunate.
Meanwhile, the viscera tests did not reveal any trace of poison in her body. The examination of left over food reportedly consumed by Shilpa also did not contain any poisonous substance, police said.
The postmortem reports also said her neck bone was not broken, thus, ruling out the possibility of death caused by hanging.
This gives room for suspicion that Shilpa would have been choked to death by her lover and the police were pursuing all the leads to crack the case.
The marking of words ''jealousy'' and ''suspicion'', in the Bible kept by Shilpa, which was recovered from the spot, gave credence to the suspicion that she would have been murdered by Jayanth.
