'Ashtadhatu' idol worth Rs 40 lakh seized, one arrested

Pratapgarh, Aug 5 (UNI) The Special Operation Group (SOG) sleuths of Uttar Pradesh Police seized an 'ashtadhatu' idol of Lord Mahaveer in Kandhai area here and arrested one person in this regard.

Police today said the idol is estimated at Rs 40 lakh in the international market.

Acting on a tip-off, cops arrested the accused, Pawan, last evening possessing the idol.

Pawan had cut the idol in two pieces for the ease of handling it, police added. Meanwhile, the police were trying to ascertain the origin of the idol.
