Army jawan killed, another injured in Asom

Guwahati, Aug 5; A jawan was killed and another injured when suspected United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) militants hurled grenade on Army vehicles at Gelapukhuri in Tinsukia district in upper Asom last night.

Official sources here today said the incident occurred when suspected ULFA activists hurled grenade at one of the three Army vehicles carrying foodstuff to their Dhelakhat camp.

The injured was rushed to the Dinjan Army hospital. The victim was identified as Lance Nayak Manoj of 4 Jat, sources added.

Senior Army and police officials visited the site and massive hunt was going to nab the culprits.

Several people of nearby areas have been taken for interrogation.
