Water bodies in Gujarat overflowing
Gandhinagar, Aug 4 (UNI) Songadh taluka in Surat recorded the highest rainfall of 4 inches while Mandvi recorded 2.5 inches rain during the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, 54 water bodies in the State are overflowing. A high alert has been sounded in the jurisdiction of 69 water bodies after the water level rose by 90 to 100 per cent. Fourteen water bodies have witnessed 80 per cent rise in water level and an alert has been sounded in their jurisdiction, according to the State Emergency Operation Centre. A general alert has been sounded in the jurisdiction of twelve other water bodies.
Over one inch of rains was recorded in 28 talukas in the State during the last 24 hours. Thirty-eight other talukas received less than half inch of rainfall.
