Vietnam tennis players for AITA Talent series

Chandigarh, Aug 4 (UNI) A nine-member team from Vietnam Tennis Federation, sponsored by Prudence Foundation of Vietnam, is here to play AITA Talent Series Tennis Tournament.

The team consists of five girls, four boys and one coach.

Brig Sarjit Singh, General Manager of the Harvest Tennis Academy at village Jassowal, near Ludhiana, informed that it is for the first time that a Vietnam team was visiting India for training. The Vietnamese players attended a coaching camp under the supervision of Kanwaljeet Singh at Jassowal before coming to Chandigarh.

This is the best junior team of Vietnam who are nationally ranked players in their respective age groups. Vietnam team would be training in the Academy till August 4. Hieu, Kha and Trung are the best potential players . Tue represented Vietnam in the World Junior Championship in Austeralia. Chang and Binh are other players in the Vietnam team. Minh is the new entrant into tennis.

Earlier in April, a team from Pakistan attended a one week camp duration at the Harvest Academy.

Kawaljeet Singh, Chief Coach of the Academy, has also been associated with Vietnam Tennis Federation since 2004 for scouting and development of Junior Development Programme of Vietnam. Since Kawaljeet Singh has joined this Academy, Vietnam Tennis Federation has sent their best team to get training under his guidance assisted by Sandeep Singh, Assistant chief coach.

Mr Kawaljeet Singh stated that the team would be participating in the camp along with the village kids and the advanced players of India, who are already training at the Academy.

He further stated that this would be a good international exposure to the upcoming players from the village of Jassowal and also for the Vietnamese team.

The academy has six Decoturf nine- layer courts similar to US Open court and also has three clay courts in its complex. All nine courts have world class floodlighting.
