Tripura govt dissatisfied at Centre for delaying child labour survey
Agartala, Aug 4 (UNI) Tripura government has expressed dissatisfaction over the Centre's delay in giving the go-ahead to carry out a survey on the number of child labourers in the state.
State labour minister Fayzur Rahman said the state government had already sent a project report to the Union Labour ministry for its approval to begin the survey on the number of child labours engaged in Tripura.
The minister said the state government does not want any child working as bonded labour in the state.'' We are trying to abolish the child labour totally from the state. The state government has taken up measures to eradicate the social evil,'' he said.
Large number of child labours were engaged in various sectors, whose exact number is yet to be known, Mr Rahman said and added that the state government had released Rs 2.5 lakhs to conduct the survey.
Mr Rahman said, ''The project report has already been sent to the Union Labour ministry a year ago. But there is no response so far''.
He further said that the state government has already sent many project reports of welfare schemes, E S I labour hospital, among others to the Centre but '' Unfortunately not a single project has been approved by the Union government so far. We wil keep pressurising the respective ministry for its approval,''the state labour minister said.
