TN Minister inaugurates ATC Sports Complex

Chennai, Aug 4 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Environment, Sports and Youth Welfare Minister T P M Mohideen Khan inaugurated the Sports Complex of AIEMA Technology Centre (ATC) here last evening.

Built in a sprawling 12-ground space at a cost of Rs 80 lakh, the Sports Complex houses a standard basketball, volleyball, shuttle and tennis courts, a yoga corner, joggers track and a cricket ground for net practice.

The Sports Complex was equipped with flood-lit facility.

The ATC Sports Complex is meant for free use for the management and staff of the 1400-odd member units of the Ambattur Industrial Estate. ATC Sports Complex will host state level competitions in Volleyball, Basketball and Shuttle.

ATC Chairman Dilip Kumbhat said in the next phase of ATC Sports Complex expansion plan a new indoor sports complex at a cost of Rs 1.8 crore will be built within a year.

It would be a three-storeyed building with one floor exclusively dedicated to gym, aerobics centre and another floor to table tennis, squash and billiards.

Former Indian cricketer Robin Singh and Mr Oscar C Nigli, MLA, were among those, who took part in the inaugural function.
