Tea Board Dy Chairman to be new CEO of tea fund

Kolkata, Aug 04 (UNI) Tea Board's Deputy Chairman would be appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for administering the Special Purpose Tea Fund (SPTF), formed by the industry stakeholders.

Tea Board Chairman Basudeb Banerjee said someone would be appointed for the post of Deputy Chairman, lying vacant now.

The Deputy Chairman would have to discharge his duties of both Tea Board and SPTF.

The Commerce Ministry, the financial institutions and tea industry were in the process of forming the Rs 4700 crore fund for rehabilitation and rejuvenation of old tea bushes over a period of 15 years.

The Tea Board had also decided to use GIS mapping system to assess the use of the fund.

The Board was also introducing e-auction system in several parts of the country.
