Red Ribbon Club launched to fight AIDS

Kohima, Aug 04 (UNI) The Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) has formed a Red Ribbon Club (RRC) in all the educational institutes of the state to combat the deadly virus.

Inaugurating the RRC at Raj Bhavan here yesterday, Governor Shyamal Datta said, " AIDS is a multi-dimensional problem and RRC would play an important role in conveying the truth of this disease among the students. " Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio addressed the programme, terming the formation of RRC and Access of Safe Blood as a noble venture.

He further said the RRC would provide accurate information about HIV/AIDS to strengthen the process of responsible behaviour among the youths.

He also said HIV/AIDS has become a threat to economy, development and stability, and urged the youths to create employement opportunities for the affected ones.
