Randhawa makes poor start, tied 116th at Scandinavian Masters
Malmo, Sweden, Aug 4 (UNI) Jyoti Randhawa failed to recover from a poor start as he carded a horrendous three-over 75 to be tied for the 116th spot after the opening round of the 2.4 million dollar EnterCard Scandinavian Masters at Barseback Golf and Country Club here.
The Indian managed to hit just two birdies against five bogeys and faces the prospect of missing the cut if he fails to raise the level of his game in the next round.
Playing his back nine first, Randhawa got off to a disastrous start by dropping two shots on the 10th and 11th. He managed a birdie on the 12th but a bogey on the 13th again pulled him back leaving the Indian two-over at the halfway mark.
Randhawa continued with his poor form after he made the turn and dropped bogeys on the third and fifth. Consolation came with a birdie on the ninth (his last of the day) but the damage had been done by then as the Indian was left way down the leaderboard.
Meanwhile, at the top, playing partners Benn Barham of England and Belgium's Nicolas Colsaerts alongwith Scot Marc Warren topped the leaderboard with opening day score of five-under 67.
