New Delhi, Aug 4 (UNI) The power situation in Delhi today worsened with 500 MW of loadshedding in various areas of the capital.

Out of the maximum peak time power demand of around 3600 MW, the discoms could meet only 3100 MW and had to carry out rotational loadshedding to meet the shortage in supply.

The grim power scenario was caused by the fact that power generation at Salal and Chamera I was affected today. The Chamera II , which has not been generating power for the past few days due to high silt levels, is still not generating power.

Yesterday too the power situation in Delhi remained grim with 340 MW of loadshedding in various areas of the capital.

The grim power scenario since Wednesday comes following a satisfactory supply all through the last week. The week also witnessed the heaviest spell of Monsoon rains.
