Pepsi, cola prohibited in educaional instituions in the state

Jaipur, Aug 4 (UNI) Rajasthan government has decided to impose prohibition on the sale of Pepsi and Coca Cola in all the educational institutions in the state.

According to Education Minister Ganshyam Tiwari, the prohibition would be in force till Coca Cola and Pepsi give an undertaking to a competent court that the soft drinks did not contain pesticide residues harmful for health.

Mr Tewari said directions were issued to prohibit the sale and consumption of Coca Cola and Pepsi in all the educational instituions including schools, colleges and technical institues with immediate effect. He said the soft drink companies even after directives from the courts have not yet bothered to display the contents of the drinks on the bottle which is mandatory.

The decision was taken in the light of the exposure of the Centre for Sciecne and Enviornment that the soft drinks contaning pesticide residues in excess of permitted levels.
