Panchayat polls postponed

Hyderabad, Aug 4 (UNI) The State Election Commission (SEC) tonight authorised the District Election Officers to decide on postponement of the third phase of Grama Panchayat elections in flood-ravaged areas.

Following this, the district election authorities of Khammam postponed the elections in two revenue divisions.

The elections would be postponed in more districts due to floods, the SEC sources said.

The SEC will issue fresh notification after the situation improved and based on reports from the district collectors concerned, they added.
