Oilmeals export declines by 21 pc during July 2006

Mumbai, Aug 4 (UNI) The export of oilmeals declined by 21 per cent during July 2006 at 179,950 tons as compared to 227,025 tons during the same period last year.

A Solvents Extract Association of India release here today said the total export of oilmeals during April to July this year has shown an increase of 12 per cent at 1,055,150 tons as compared to 945,300 tons last year.

This was due to the jump in export of soybean meal from 506,650 tons to 685,425 tons in the first four months of the financial year 2006-07, the release added.

The export of oilmeals to China during April to July 2006 also showed a sharp increase at 204,000 tones from 88 tons during the same period last year. China mainly imported Soybean meal (78,875 tons), rapeseed meal (85,975 tons) and groundnut meal (39,200 tons), the release further stated.

During the same period Vietnam became the largest importer of Soybean from India, while South Korea emerged as a big market for Indian rapeseed, the release added.
