TOKYO, Aug 4 (Reuters) New Japan coach Ivica Osim kept it short and sweet today as he selected just 13 players for next week's home friendly against Trinidad and Tobago.

The 65-year-old indicated he would add to the list before Wednesday's game in Tokyo after naming five uncapped players in his first Japan squad. All 13 are based at Japanese clubs.

Kawasaki Frontale striker Kazuki Ganaha and Brazilian-born Urawa Reds defender Tulio were among a young group named by the former Yugoslavia coach.

Osim was unveiled as Japan coach two weeks ago after Brazilian Zico stepped down as planned following the team's World Cup flop.

Only four of Japan's 23-man World Cup party remain in an experimental squad with Osim retaining only goalkeeper Yoshikatsu Kawaguchi and defenders Alex, Keisuke Tsuboi and Yuichi Komano.

Japan take on Yemen at home in an Asian Cup qualifier on August 16 in Osim's first competitive game.

''I will probably have around 20 players in the final squad,'' Osim told reporters. ''There are some surprises but I will keep to the same group of players for the Yemen game.'' Players from Gamba Osaka, Kashima Antlers and Osim's former club JEF United Chiba were left out as the teams are involved in Asian club competitions.
