Mohun Bagan to finalise exchange programme with Liverpool

New Delhi, Aug 4 (UNI) Mohun Bagan is all set to take another significant step in the right direction when it finalises an exchange programme with English Premier League club Liverpool.

Club convenor Debashis Dutta, who has been named manager of the club's under-15 squad for the Manchester United Premier Cup tournament, told reporters here today that the the exchange programme would get the finishing touches ince he reaches there.

''Liverpool officials had visited our academy in Durgapur last year and they offered us to send our under-17 team there. But we felt it would be better to start with a under-13 team, because you can mould them. On the other hand, we are not very sure whether you can mould a 19-year-old in the same way.

''Our academy has under-15, 17 and 19 teams and we are going to add the under-13 squad soon. Apart from Tata Football Academy (TFA) -- they are not a club in that sense -- no other club boasts of an academy. If we manage to finalise the exchange programme with them, it would a significant development for Indian football,'' he added.
