Man gets life sentence for brutally murdering neighbour

New Delhi, Aug 4 (UNI) A city court today sentenced a man to life imprisonment for brutally murdering his neighbour in Vasant Kunj area in South Delhi two years ago.

After hearing the arguments of both the prosecution and the defence, Patiala House Court Additional Sessions Judge S P Garg while announcing the verdict held Rajesh guilty of murdering Surender (24) simply on the suspicion that the deceased was having an illicit relationship with his wife.

The court further slapped a fine of Rs 2,000 on Rajesh.

On February 14, 2004, on some pretext Rajesh took Surender to a forest and killed him by hitting him with a stone on the head. He was arrested on February 20 at the Nizammudin railway station.

Rajesh was convicted under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
