LeT militant, jawan killed, four injured in gun battle

Jammu, Aug 4 (UNI) Two people, including one Lashkar-e-toiba militant, were killed and four jawans injured in a fierce gun battle between security forces and militants at Gundana in Doda district last late night.

Sources said a house of Master Riaz at Gundana, in which the militants had taken shelter, was extensively damaged as the gun battle, which started at 1500 hrs, intensified late night.

DIG Udhampur-Doda range Lalat Indu Mohanty, SSP Doda Manohar Singh and SP Doda (operations) Varinder Sharma were present during the operation along with senior army officers, which continued till late night amidst heavy rains.

The slain militant was identified as Juber while the army jawan was identified as sepoy Subhash of 8 Rashtriya Rifles.
