Bhopal, Aug 4 (UNI) Helpline for Women will be set up in all districts of Madhya Pradesh as part of empowerment of women and controlling crime against them.

Helpline will help ensure prompt action against the accused, Chief Minister S S Chouhan said after inaugurating the Help Desk for Women at the Kotwali police station here yesterday.

As part of empowering women, he said, the state government had taken steps for reserving 10 percent posts in police for women, Rs 10,000 award for information about female foeticide, economic security for poor girls and strict action against institutions involved in female foeticide.

Director General of Police Swaraj Puri said 51 Helpline services had been started in 27 districts and special Help Desks in 38 districts.

A toll-free telephone has been set up at Helpline for Women where a counsellor would be available round the clock to help the victims. Women police officials would man the Help Desk so that the victims could lodge their complaints without hesitation.
