Haryana announces free travel for women, kids on Rakhi day
Chandigarh, Aug 4 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today announced a ''Rakhi'' gift for the women and children in the state.
He announced that on August 9, the ''Rakhi'' day, the women and children would be permitted to travel free in State Roadways buses so as to enable them meet their brothers and tie ''Rakhi''.
The Chief Minister, who was presiding over a meeting to review the functioning of Transport Department here this evening, said children up to 15 years of age accompanying the women would also be able to travel without paying the fare on that day.
He said the women could avail of this free travel facility within the State as well as to and fro travel between Chandigarh and Delhi.
The Transport Minister said that a decision to this effect has been taken to benefit the women, especially the poor so as to enable the brothers and sisters to strengthen their bonds.
