Explosion kills at least 3 Pakistani soldiers

Lahore (Pakistan), Aug 4: An explosion believed to have been caused by a gas cylinder killed at least three Pakistani soldiers in an army canteen in the eastern city of Lahore yesterday, a military spokesman said.

The injured were shifted to an army hospital, according to Major General Shaukat Sultan.

Army officials in Lahore said four soldiers were killed and dozens more were injured by the blast.

''The explosion occurred in a mess canteen where soldiers were sitting... Three soldiers were killed, and some injured have been shifted to the hospital,'' Sultan said.

''An inquiry has been ordered into the explosion but initial findings show that it was caused by a gas cylinder,'' he added.
