Diwakar Prasad Singh lifts trophy

Chennai, Aug 4 (UNI) Diwakar Prasad Singh won the Sixth Adyar times New Millennium FIDE Rated Open chess Tournament title defeating T S Ravi here today.

For Singh, this was the sixth FIDE title tournament that he won so far in his chess career spanning 12 years.

He represented India in the Chess Olympiad held in Turin, Italy this year, along with Viswanathan Anand S Sasikiran, P Harikrsihna, Surya Sekar Ganguly and Sandipan Chanda.

With 1, 5 points difference, three players--Ram S Krishnan, S Nitin and Shyam Nikhil with 8 points a piece finished second to fourth in the final tally.

The fifth to seventh place were occupied by R Arun Karthik, J Sridhar and K V Shantharam scoring 7.5 points each.
