Ahmedabad, Aug 4 (UNI) The Child Right Collective (CRCG), a Gujarat-based NGO today announced plans to launch a month-long movement for providing 'Elementary Education to children' from August 6.

Talking to reporters here, CRCG convenor Mansukh Salla said that CRCG would launch a child education movement, a right that is guaranteed under the Constitution of India.

Mr. Salla said that the Congress-led UPA Government had promised in its last election manifesto and the 'Common Minimum Program' to introduce the 'Compulsory Primary Education Bill-2005' in parliament to get it converted into an Act in order to ensure primary education for each and every child. However, after taking over the reins of power, the UPA Government is retreating from his commitment, he lamented.

Therefore CRCG has taken up the initiative to launched a month long movement from August 6 to October 5, coinciding with Teachers Day, he disclosed.

Mr Salla also alleged that the UPA government is now putting the onus on state governments by asking them to make such an act to ensure primary education for children.

As part of this movement, the NGO will organise district level sammelans, and also endeavour to sensitise various political parties regarding the paramount importance of the issue since children are the base of the country's future, he added.
