Computerisation of Finance Department to be expedited

New Delhi, Aug 4 (UNI) Delhi Planning and Finance Minister A K Walia today instructed the Departments of Trade and Taxes, and Excise and Entertainment to expedite computerisation to utilise e-governance in true spirit for increasing transparency and efficiency.

While chairing a meeting to review the status of e-governance projects, Dr Walia ordered constitution of a study group under the Chairmanship of Commissioner Trade and Taxes to look into the manpower policy.

The group would be asked to submit its report within a month.

It was reported in the meeting that efforts were being intensified to ensure online filing of monthly returns by 6,000 traders. At present 700 key dealers were filing returns online.

It was informed that 56 forms were available on the net for downloading by traders. It had been decided to prepare an index of reports for which TINXSYS details of dealers had been uploaded and details of forms had also been made available.

Delhi was the first state to introduce system of TINXSYS details.

Dr Walia further directed Excise and Entertainment to conduct a work-study with an aim to simplify issuance of import permits/transport permits.

Dr Walia expressed the confidence that the computerisation process would be completed soon to enable concerned stakeholders to derive maximum benefit of e-governance.

Principal Secretary (Finance) and Secretary (IT) were present in the meeting.
