CM inaugurates Andhra Pradesh Information Commission office

Hyderabad, Aug 4 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said the Right to Information Act was a unique achievement of the UPA Government.

Inaugurating the office of Andhra Pradesh Information Commission at HACA Bhavan near Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Building here, he said the information sought by a common man would be made available through this Act.

He also launched the Commission's new website www.scic.ap.gov.in''.

''I congratulate the AP Information Commission's Chief Information Commissioner C D Arha and three State Information Commissioners on the occasion. This day will stand out in the history of the state'', he said.

Mr Arha said since the time of establishment of the Commission in November 2005, it had received about 1200 communications from the people.

He said out of the 1200 received, 951 were appeals, petitions, complaints and suggestions. So far 737 of them had been disposed and 214 were pending.

He said about 410 appeals had been disposed and 181 were pending.

He said the Commission had introduced a policy to send the replies, orders and notices in Telugu to the persons, whose complaints and appeals were in Telugu.

He said the Commission, through its website would try to pass maximum information to the public on public authorities of different departments in the State.

In the coming days the Commission was looking forward to feed all its orders in the website in order to maintain the transparency and accountability of every public authority, he added.
