Chaddar laid on behalf of PM at Ajmer
Ajmer, Aug 4 (UNI) Prayers for communal harmony and peace in the country were made at the mazaar of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti here today when a chaddar was laid there on behalf of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Union minister of state Prithviraj Chauhan in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) laid the chaddar on behalf of Mr Singh. State Congress chief B D Kalla and Pushkar MP Dr Srigopal Baheti were also present on the occasion.
The chaddar was sent on the occasion of the 794th Urs festivities which concluded two days ago. Khadim Gani Gurdeji helped them perform the ziyarat.
In his message, the Prime Minister said the annual Urs festival has major spiritual and material significance. The festival helps to inculcate unity and brotherhood among all communities and religions.
The congregation of people from all faiths from various parts of the world has proved the importance of this festival since time immemorial.
Mr Singh said the festival spreads the message of peace and clearly shows that the forces which unite the common man are much more stronger than the divisive forces which are spreading terror in the country.
He said the Urs at Khawja Saheb dargah is a symbol of peace, religious unity and shows the way to lead a peaceful and civilised life.
