Silchar, Aug 4 (UNI) The BSF today arrested six suspected militants from Indo-Bangladesh border in Kinnokhal area of Cachar district of south Asom.

The BSF sources said here that the arrested persons, who were from Uttar Pradesh, were roaming suspiciously along the Indo-Bangladesh border area.

They were suspected as Muslim fundamentalist group cadres or ISI.

However, after preliminary interrogation, the BSF handed them over to Asom police.

Police have been interrogating them in Katigora police station Cachar.

''The arrested persons told police that they are cloth hawkers and sell dress materials in different villages of the area. After coming from UP, for past one month, they were residing in a rented house in Silchar,'' police sources said.

They have denied that they have any connection with any Muslim fundamentalist organisations, sources added.

Police said interrogation is on and the suspected militants would be referred to Silchar Sadar police station for further examinations.

Proper action would be taken against them if found guilty of any anti-national activity, police said.
