Amarnath yatra halts at Ramban due to landslide
Jammu, Aug 4 (UNI) The fleet of 169 Amarnath pilgrims has stopped at Ramban due to closure of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway following the heavy land slide on the route.
The batch of pilgrims comprising 69 men, 21 women, one child and 88 sadus was flagged off from Jammu this morning amidst rain under tight security.
The yatras was halted at Khoni Nallah in Ramban district due to stone shooting. The pilgrims were accommodated at community hall near Ramban for night stay.
Following the closure of 300-Km long highway, the Kashmir valley has cut off from the rest of the country due to landsides and mudslides triggered by heavy rains since this morning between Ramban and Ramsu.
However, the traffic on highway was restored for one track this evening, sources said from Ramban. But, the Amarnath yatra was not allowed due to security reason in the night.
