Air services disrupted in Coastal Andhra

Vijayawada, Aug 4 (UNI) Air services to Visakhapatnam and Rajahmundry continued to be disurpted for the second day today following heavy rains and poor visibility.

Air Deccan sources told UNI here today that the Chennai-Vijayawada- Rajahmundry flight, which arrived here at 1300 hrs, could not take off to Rajahmundry, due to poor visibility at the Madhurupudi airport. The flight returned to Chennai at 1315 hrs. The airline returned the fare to passengers booked upto Rajahmundry.

Similarly, the Hyderabad-Rajahmundry-Vijayawada flight could not land at the Rajahmundry airport and arrived here at 1220 hrs. The flight left from here for Hyderabad at 1300 hrs, the sources added.

With rain water entering the Visakhapatnam airport, the authorities cancelled flights from and to this eastern port city.

As storm water entered the runway and the terminal building of the airport, following incessant rains, flights were not operated for the second day today, a report from Visakhapatnam, quoting officials said.
