Woman dies in AP flash floods

Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh, Aug 3 (UNI) A young woman was washed away in flash floods at Pothrinavalasda even as hundreds of families face evacuation due to flood fury in the district due to huge inflows into into Vamsadhara and Nagavali Rivers following heavy rains upstream.

According to officials, P Kanakammac (23) was washed away at Pothrinavalasda in flash floods.

The Gotta Barrage on River Mahendrathanaya and River Nagavali received 98,780 cusecs and 94,600 cusecs respectively.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.

About 400 families in Srikakulam and 85 families in Narasannapeta and Yellampeta living near the coast have been evacuated, Revenue officials said.
