VSNL employee's car injures two cops in hit'n'run case

Mumbai, Aug 3 (UNI) Two police constables were grievously injured a speeding vehicle, driven by a VSNL employee, a hit them off the Western Express highway at Vile Parle in North-West Mumbai early today.

Police said there was an oil spillage near Nana-Nani Park off the express highway. To guide the passing vehicles and make them go slow, traffic hawaldar, Abdul Gani Patel (56) and a constable from Vakola division were deployed on the spot, when the speeding car driven by Arvind Gulshan Kapoor (30), a manager of Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited, came at about 0245 hrs and hit the two on duty cops before fleeing away from the scene. However, other staff chased the car and nabbed him.

The injured have been admitted to the Cooper Hospital.

A case of rash and negligence driving has been registered against Kapoor, police added.
