Uplinking permission granted to 185 pvt satellite channels

New Delhi, Aug 3 (UNI) The Government had so far permitted 185 private satellite TV channels to uplink from the country as per the uplinking guidelines, the Rajya Sabha was informed today.

In addition to this, 65 TV channels have been provisionally permitted to downlink in India in accordance with the guidelines, Minister of Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, P R Dasmunsi said in a written reply.

The proposals of 30 private satellite TV channels for permission to uplink from India and 12 TV channels for downlinking permission were at various stages of scrutiny, he said.
